Watermelon Seed Art
Materials: Red and green construction paper, watermelon seeds, scissors, glue,
Have each resident, cut a large green circle or half circle a slightly smaller red circle from construction paper. Have residents glue their red paper circles on top of their green circles. Then let them glue some watermelon seeds on their red circles to make watermelon slices. Use For Door, bulletinboard or wall decorations
Ice Cream In A Bag
Ingredients: 1/2 cup milk, 1 tble sugar, 3/4 tble vanilla, ice, 6 tble salt, 1 large freezer bag, 1 small freezer bag
Put milk, sugar and vanilla into the small bag.
Close the bag. Put the ice into the large bag
until the bag is half full. Add the salt to the ice.
Put the small bag into the large bag,and seal the large bag.
Shake the bags for five minutes.
Put in freezer for a few minutes until thick like ice cream.

Sandy Beach Art
Materials:1 Piece Blue Construction Paper (per resident) Assortment of Colored Construction Paper Glue Glue Brushes Sand
Have the residents make beaches by brushing glue across the bottom
of light blue construction paper with glue brushes and sprinkling sand on the glue.
When their papers are dry, let them cut out a sun and boat shapes to create summer beach scenes.
You can also cut pictures out of magazines to add to your pictures.
Kids playing in sand, people swimming etc.
Beach Hunt
Materials: Sand Large Container Small Dollar Store Knick Knacks(1 per resident) Plastic Bags
Put Dollar Store Treasures, 1 each in plastic bag and bury in the the sand.
Let residents take turns finding a treasure.
There are many variations to this game you can play.
* You could bury numbers in the sand instead that coincide with a treasures.
* You could use this as a summer bingo prize game where
the bingo winner gets to go to the beach and find a treasure.
* You could use it to win prizes in all kinds of games such as, Trivia, Spelling Bee etc.
* Prizes can vary for instance candy(but use numbers instead of burying candy in sand)
* You can use a small sand shovel if you want but I have found most residents
love to get their hands in the sand
* It's a great 1 0n 1 activity

Summer Kite Art
Materials: 4 popsicle sticks, glue, tissue paper scraps
Have the residents glue the popsicle sticks into the shape of a diamond.
Put glue on along the tops of the diamond shape. Then press down tissue paper,
let dry then cut away excess. Attach a piece of yarn to the bottom of the
diamond shape to look like the tail.You could also use construction paper
instead of tissue paper, pipe cleaners instead of yarn,bend and make constuction
paper bows & glue on for tails. & write residents names on kites for door room decorations.
Use Your Noodle Ball
Purchase Pool Noodles At Your Local Dollar Store
Cut noodles in half let residents use their "noodle"
to hit a balloon back and forth. Great exercise !
